FRIEDRICHSHAFFEN, Germany – September 28, 2026 – Avient Corporation, an innovator of materials solutions, today announced the launch of Maxxam™ NHFR Polyolefin Formulations and Nymax™ FR REC Flame Retardant Recycled Nylon Formulations at the upcoming Fakuma international trade fair for plastics processing, to help manufacturers meet tightening global fire safety regulations. The electrical and electronics (E&E) and appliance markets face mounting pressure to replace halogenated chemistry with non-halogenated alternatives. The new grades serve appliance manufacturers, E&E component manufacturers, and material specifiers seeking qualified fire-safety performance. The company will highlight these innovations, along with a comprehensive portfolio of materials solutions, at the event October 12 – 16.

New for 2026: Materials solutions that address the market shift

Avient’s new technologies reflect the direction the market is moving — away from halogenated chemistry and toward high-performance non-halogenated polymer alternatives that help customers meet performance, regulatory, and sustainability objectives. Avient’s two new flame-retardant technologies address fire safety across multiple base resins to help eliminate the trade-off manufacturers previously faced.

Nymax™ FR REC flame-retardant recycled polyamide grades deliver non-halogenated fire safety for electrical and electronics applications while incorporating 42% to 77% post-industrial recycled content. The portfolio spans PA6 and PA66 resins with 15% to 40% glass fiber loading plus unfilled options, with a staged color expansion in development.

Key attributes:

• UL 94 V-0 rating at 0.8 mm, a GWFI of 960°C, and comparative tracking index (CTI) values up to 600 V
• Non-halogenated flame-retardant (NHFR) chemistry aligns with restricted-substance lists, and non-PFAS formulations anticipate emerging regulatory bans targeting per- or polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)
• Incorporates 42-77% post-industrial recycled content supporting OEM sustainability targets and can lower product carbon footprint versus prime flame-retardant polyamide

Maxxam™ NHFR formulations offer appliance designers meaningful design flexibility to optimize part geometry, reduce wall thickness, and pursue metal-to-plastic conversion opportunities without compromising fire performance.

Key attributes:

• UL 94 5VA flame rating at 2.0 mm, addressing heightened compliance requirements for unmonitored household appliances under IEC 60335 and UL 60335
• Glow-Wire Flammability Index of 960°C per IEC 60695
• Non-halogenated chemistry that reduces the risk of corrosive gas generation during a fire event
